Treat Yourself!

Hello Friends,

Today’s blog is especially for me. I have had a difficult time since the quarantine of being in control (or even caring for that matter) of what I have been putting in my mouth.  Food…well mostly the carb category… meets all my needs.  There isn’t a problem that food hasn’t solved for me except getting rid of the extra weight that I carry around with me. Right now, there are a few more unwanted pounds since the immediate change in our situation.

So, this is what I have decided to do. I don’t like anybody telling me what I can and can’t do (yes I have a very rebellious streak) so I don’t care for “diets”.  I have set some guidelines that I have been able to follow over the past couple of weeks and I’d like to share them with you.  If you happen to see me in person, please ask me how I am doing with my guidelines. This will hold me accountable.

1. Water- I drink at least a minimum of 1/2 my body weight in ounces of water each day. Yes, I go to the bathroom a lot, but that means I am giving the inside of my body a nice bath.  If I happen to treat myself to a soda, I add that much more water to my day, AND I double the water if my drink contains caffeine.

2. Fiber- Our processed food diet does not have any fiber in it. Our digestive tract needs fiber. I am consciously increasing the fiber in my meals by eating two live/whole foods with every meal (raw fruit or vegetables).  By eating the foods raw, the enzymes are still present which helps the digestion of that particular food.

3. Treat- I am allowing myself one serving of a treat each day. This requires me to decide what I am going to enjoy. I read the label and find the serving amount. Then I sit down and savor every moment of eating my treat without any guilt!  Did you know that how you feel about eating that treat is more important than the treat you choose to eat? If you are going to eat it, enjoy it!!

4. Positive Self Talk- I will be honest, positive self talk is difficult. I can talk nice to everyone else, but I have the most difficult time with myself. This has been a long journey for me and probably will be until I leave this earth. I have so many tools I have learned  to help me with this and I use something on a daily basis. Some of my favorite tools are The Emotion Code, The Emotional Freedom Technique, Declarations, Deep Breathing exercises, and deep emotional energy work.

Thank you for listening to me. Enjoy your beautiful day! Be kind to your body!

Much love to you.  Janalee
