One of the most common things I am hearing lately is a decrease in brain function. How would you like to increase the circulation to your brain which will increase your brain function in 12 minutes? 12 minutes!

Researchers were investigating ways to prevent Alzheimer’s disease and found that this simple 12-minute meditative practice “Kirtan Kriya” was effective in reducing multiple risk factors for Alzheimer’s disease. But guess what else they found? By doing this meditation you increase blood flow to critical areas of your brain used for cognition, and emotional regulation. This also showed a decrease in anxiety and depression while improving sleep! The results were published in the Journal of Alzheimer’s Disease, May 2021.

Just 12 minutes, once a day, quiet your mind, and feel so much better.

You can watch a guided meditation of Kritan Kirya on YouTube. I watched a few of them until I found the one that resonated with me. She gives a description of what you are going to do, the mantra, and finger positions. Then she demonstrates the full 12 minutes so you can follow along with her until you feel comfortable enough to do it with just music or music and mantra. I will add the link for this one and for one that jumps right in with the music.

In this meditation you will do 2 minutes of the mantra vocally, 2 minutes whispering and 4 minutes in your mind silently, then 2 minutes whispering and 2 minutes vocally. While you are doing this you are touching your thumb to each of your four fingers as you say the mantra. This can help keep your mind focused on meditation. When it wanders, just come back to what you are doing.

I have found that doing this in the morning really does help me with my mental focus and abilities during the day. There is a noticeable difference on the days I do it versus the days I think I am okay without it.
