Power Up Your Prayers – A Book Review
Hello my dear friends,
Remember I promised a book review on the second Monday of each month and I am very excited to share a review on the book called Power Up Your Prayers by Sheridan Ripley.
This is a 40 day prayer challenge and I will share it in six sections. You will have an opportunity to try the suggestions and not be overwhelmed by a long email and too many things to think about.
Sheridan begins by having you create a prayer “cheat” sheet which she calls a prayer sheet. When she first thought of doing this she was thinking her prayers would become more repetitive. What really happened though is her prayers became more varied. Having the prayer sheet allowed her to “delve deeper during her prayers.”
Her basic prayer sheet includes herself, her husband, her three children, parents, in-laws, siblings, and their spouses and kids. She also includes her close friends, church and world leaders, power to resist temptation, and what she needs to repent of. She does this in bullet points as it reminds her of the key points. She saves it as a word document so she can easily print it out as needed.
If you are interested in this challenge, take the time to make your prayer sheet. Include the general things you like to pray for, leaving space to add the things that come up and adding the people you tell you will pray for them. This sheet will help you to actually remember to pray for them.
Ephesian 6:18 “Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit”
Day 1-The Power of 40 Days
The reason this is a 40 day challenge is because the number 40 represents change. It holds the power of renewal.
Step 1: Write down what you need to do, want to do, and how you want to do it.
Step 2: Add this list to the bottom of your prayer sheet.
Step 3: If you have this book (which I highly recommend) then read a chapter a day. Pray at least once a day.
Step 4: If you want extra support, you can join her Facebook group MPoWeR.
Step 5: Notice how God helps you! See the hand He had in your life yesterday!
Numbers 13:25-27 “And they returned from searching of the land after forty days. And they went and came to Moses, and to Aaron, and to all the congregation of the children of Israel, into the wilderness of Paran, to Kadesh; and brought back word unto them, and unto all the congregation, and shewed them the fruit of the land. And they told him, and said, We Came unto the land whither thou sentest us, and surely it floweth with milk and honey; and this is the fruit of it.”
Okay! This is enough to get you started. Make your prayer sheet and try it out this month. Next month, I will add suggestions and continue to encourage and support your power prayers.
I hope you enjoy this exercise!
Much love and gratitude – Janalee
