What to know about your blood sugar + book review

Your blood sugar plays a significant role in your health, whether or not you have diabetes. While monitoring your blood sugar is something we should all be doing, I’ve heard from many of you that gaining access to the proper tools can be challenging unless you have Type 1 diabetes.

I’m on a quest (you can come along too if you want) to find someone who will prescribe a continuous glucose monitor (CGM) to anyone. This way, you can visibly see what you are doing to your body with the foods you choose to eat.

Until that day comes, and we might be waiting awhile, I’ve found a trusted resource you can turn to. It’s a book I recently read and found to be eye-opening and life-changing. It’s called “The Glucose Revolution” by Jessie Inchauspe, and I think you will appreciate the vast knowledge she shares within its pages.

The book talks about blood sugar from a chemist’s point of view, and through years of studying food and its effect on the body, she has discovered the correct way to ingest it with the least amount of glucose spike.

So what’s wrong with a glucose spike?

It’s the foundation for many diseases, the ones that we in the US are more likely to get due to our standard American diet.

So how do you control it without being able to monitor it continuously?

Jessie suggests eating fiber first. Raw or cooked vegetables, then eat your protein and fat and end your meal with carbohydrates.

To learn more, you’re going to want to get her book. It’s worth the read, I promise.

It’s hard to make the best choices for our blood sugar day in and day out, especially if you have a sweet tooth or are an emotional eater.

Dealing with emotions in a healthier way can not only help with regulating your diet (and blood sugar), but it helps you release past hurts and trauma, allowing you to feel like you can breathe again without a weight bearing down on your chest.

If you are ready to experience that kind of freedom, click here to book an appointment for The Emotion Code session. Release trapped negative feelings with this emotional healing work and feel a sense of deep calm (and maybe let go of emotional eating too!)
