Your Body Talks To You!

Your body talks to you all day long.
Can you hear it, sense it, and feel it?
The body has its own language.
Sensations, images, emotions, feelings, inner knowing, pleasure, nagging doubt, vague pain, intense pain, sharp pain, nerve pain, stiffness, heaviness, grinding, popping.
We even make sayings around it.
Gut feeling, heart’s desire, they are on my last nerve, they are a pain in my butt or neck, butterflies in my stomach, I feel for you, heart of stone, my heart is filled with love, I am numb, I am exhausted.
Each and every one of us has an intelligence inside us that knows everything going on in our lives. The physical, mental, emotional and spiritual planes.
But why is it that we ignore, deny, or even mistrust the messages of our body?
We usually do not ignore the check engine light that comes on in our car, the error code on our electronics, or the low battery on our computer or phone. We seek immediate resolutions to the issue whether it is our self resolving it, or if we do not understand the error code we research or seek help from a professional.
Are we afraid to turn inward and listen to our bodies’ messages?
Why? Too much pain, old trauma, anxiety, too many emotions, I cannot handle this right now. I feel betrayed by my own body, I have too much to do. I have to help others. We end up turning our pain volume down or mute it out or numbing it out in many ways.
Our bodies are designed to guide us, keep us safe, and bring us pleasure. It is one of the most important relationships we have with ourselves. Yet if we keep muting or ignoring the signs and symptoms, the healthy give and take of our cells starts to get impaired through dis-ease, pain, illness, and possibly even full-blown disease.
Our mind, body, spirit and emotions all work together, which can affect the physical container of our body.
Just like a small piece of plastic can hold programs for our phones, computers, cars, and other devices that can record, hold data, shapes, colors, and many other very complex programs, so can our body.
There is a complexity in our bodies that can hold tissue memory in the muscle, fascia, bone, nervous system, and other systems in our body. Our body can hold memories of ailments, injuries, and emotions.
So, how do we listen to our body? Here are a few steps you may try out for yourself.
First If we have spent a lot of time with the volume down, or the mute button on, remember to “start slowly.”
Take what I like to call a “sacred pause”.
Take your foot off the gas pedal.
Quit the Fear to stay in the same state “Finding Excuses And Reasons”.
Ask yourself, how is it serving me?
Sit in a chair and feel your sits bones on the seat, feel your feet on the ground, take some deep breaths in.
Our parasympathetic nervous system which is our rest and repair needs to feel safe.
Can you get quiet enough to listen to your body? Get in touch with the feelings and sensations. This may be new to you. Be gentle with yourself.
If you have stomach problems, (or substitute other body parts) can you place your hand gently on the area? Take a deep belly breath in, again feel the sensations. Just notice what you notice. Can you allow the muscles to unclench or relax? Is there pain? Acknowledge the pain; let it know you feel it. Also give acknowledgement and recognize the good job it is doing for you. What is the pain trying to tell you? Can you give it a voice….that body part. Your thinking mind might have a story around it….but what information does that body part have for you? Does it need nurturing, nutrition, what support does it need? What does it need to release or express in emotions? Again allow that part of your body to speak. Let the innate inner wisdom of the body speak. Be present with yourself. Just be in the moment.
“When was the last time you thought of your body as your friend? What has it done for you? How much do you appreciate it?” -Bessel Van der Kolf.
“Seek the wisdom that will untie your knot, seek the path that demands your whole being.” RUMI
How is your body speaking to you? How is it instructing you to find release? Remember your body has wisdom and intelligence. Listen closely. What may the spirit need to help this part of the body? How is it being choked off instead of being listened to? What is your body asking? Expressing? Can you hear it? Be patient with yourself and your body especially if you have been ignoring it, and muted its voice. Pain sometimes will transfer to other parts of the body if it cannot be heard in the initial location.
Seek outside help. As the saying goes, sometimes we are too close to the forest to see the trees. Several modalities or products exist to help you reconnect to your body, mind, and spirit. You may already be aware of some of them. Many of these modalities and a few products also assist the Cranial nerve 10 (also known as the wandering nerve or Vagus Nerve) to help get us back in a parasympathetic nervous system state.
Here are some different modalities that may help:
Emotion Code
Body Code
Micro current
Neurofeedback
Massage
CranioSacral Therapy
Bach or other Emotional support remedies
Meridian Stress Assessment or SRT
Guided meditations
Rezzimax
