Your Root Chakra

Hello friends;

I am still drawn to the fascinating role chakras play in our health. These energy centers along the spine and head impact both emotional and physical well-being. Numerous modalities exist to open them, guided by the energy frequencies linked to each chakra. This includes selecting yoga poses, breathing exercises, essential oils, color and sound therapy, and even determining the most effective mantras and specific days for emphasis.

The Root Chakra (Muladhara) is associated with Saturday. “The first day of the weekend, free from the worries and challenges of the traditional work week, is ideal for self-care, grounding and connecting with nature, and ensuring that personal, basic needs are met.” (ByHealingthroughVisions.com)

The root chakra, found at the base of the spine in the pelvic and lower groin area, connects us to the earth. “When the root chakra energy is healthy, rooted, and thriving, we feel we are a part of humanity, while still maintaining an independent sense of self. We hold our own energy and experience our own emotion. We feel clear on our personal values with a strong sense of standing in our own truth. . . If you are not rooted to your own truth, you will find it challenging to move forward on your life path and feel that you have a distinct purpose beyond the roles you play or the work you do to pay the bills. Without being rooted, life becomes monotonous, as you are not grounded to a sense of identity or a unique purpose to play.” (Carol Tuttle, The Modern Chakra Guide, p. 72)

Mantras for the Root Chakra include:

* “As I live true to myself, I know I deserve to thrive and help others thrive.” (Carol Tuttle, The Modern Chakra Guide, pp. 20 & 71)

* I am rooted.

* I am safe.

* I am worthy.

* I am passionate.

* I stand for my values, for truth, and for justice.

* I am supported.

* I nurture my body with healthy food, clean water, exercise, relaxation, connection

with nature.

* I am open to possibilities.

* I am grateful for all the challenges that help me grow and transform.

* I trust in the goodness of life.

* Life is a gift.

Yoga poses associated with this chakra include:

* Chair Pose (Utkatasana)

* Warrior I Pose (Virabhadrasana I)

* Warrior II Pose (Virabhadrasana II)

* Pyramid Pose (Parsvottanasana)

* Mountain Pose (Vajrasana)

* Tree Pose (Vrksasana)

* Garland Pose (Malasana)

* Thunderbolt Pose (Vajrasana)

* Staff Pose (Dandasana)

* Bridge Pose (Setu Bandha Sarvangasana)

The following resonate at the same frequency as the root chakra:

Color: Red

Element: Earth

Musical pitch: C

Essential Oils: Cedarwood, Vetiver, Myrrh, Frankincense, Grapefruit, Pine, and Spikenard. Appy oil/s topically to the bottom of your feet.

By grounding ourselves through the Root Chakra, we find calm amidst the world’s noise and commotion, creating peace within our personal space.

Next month, I’ll write about the next chakra up the spine, the Sacral.

Strive to find JOY in each day!

Roxanne
